According to sources, Nestor Carbonell who plays Richard Alpert on J.J. Abrams' TV series "Lost," could be the one who plays Khan. Khan was previously played by Ricardo Montalban in the second "Trek" called "Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan" which was released back in 1982.
"Wrath of Khan" earned a big $97 million worldwide back in the day and set a world record for a first day gross. Khan Noonien Singh was a genetically enhanced superhuman who used his intellect as well as his strength to rule Earth for a brief time in 1900. The character uses his anger at his wife's passing to justify his pursuit of Kirk.
The first "Star Trek" which was helmed by Abrams and has just been released for home entertainment, opened on May 8th this year and grossed over $257 million in the U.S. as well as $127 million overseas.
