Universal Pictures has picked up the comedy spec script "Desperados" written by Ellen Rapoport which is to be a potential starring vehicle for Isla Fisher. The project has been described as a female-oriented "Hangover."
Mark Gordon (upcoming "2012") and Jason Blum ("Paranormal Activity") are to produce the project.
The story starts off when a woman sends an indignant e-mail to her new boyfriend who has gone silent after they have sex. She learns that he is comatose in a Mexican hospital and races south of the border with her friends in order to intercept the e-mail before he recovers from the coma.
Gordon is also behind the strong war drama "The Messenger" starring Ben Foster and Woody Harrelson which sees theatres the same day as "2012." Blum has "The Tooth Fairy" which stars Dwayne Johnson in what looks like his most ridiculous, pansy role to date. That one opens on January 22nd.
