Julia Roberts' production company Red Om Films has picked up screen rights to "In the Neighborhood," a nonfiction book penned by Peter Lovenheim which is set to be published next April by Perigree.
"In the Neighborhood" begins with Lovenheim's realization of a lack of community in his suburban hometown. In order to get to know his neighbors better, he asks to stay in their homes for sleepovers. His goal is to facilitate something more than the feeling of living with strangers in modern suburbia.
Philip Rose and Lisa Gillan are to produce with Roberts.
Roberts is currently shooting "Eat, Pray, Love" for Columbia Pictures.
