Chace Crawford will star in the Paramount Pictures' remake of "Footloose." He replaces Zac Efron who decided against the project in such a short period of time after "High School Musical 3."
Filming is said to start in March next year. Dylan Sellers produces the film alongside director Kenny Ortega and Craig Zadan, a producer of the original film. Neil Meron also produces. Zadan is up next in Joel Schumacher's drama "Twelve" alongside Kiefer Sutherland, Emma Roberts, Ellen Barkin, 50 Cent and Rory Culkin.
That film is based on the novel by Nick McDowell which newcomer Jordan Melamed is adapting for Gaumont, Original Media and Radar Pictures.
In the 1984 film, Kevin Bacon starred as Ren McCormack, a teen with happy feet in a town where dancing is frowned upon. John Lithgow plays Reverend Shaw Moore, the ringleader against dancing and father of the girl McCormack has a romantic interest in (played by Lori Singer).
