In 2008, Paramount celebrated its best worldwide box office results to date.  In addition to holding the number one position in worldwide market share by reaching $3.7 billion in gross box office sales, the studio broke all previous records by becoming the first studio to release seven $100-million films in one year.  Internationally, Paramount Pictures International topped $2 billion at the box office, becoming only the third studio ever to reach that milestone.
