"Braveheart" writer Randall Wallace is apparently writing the Columbia Pictures' distributed "The Last Pharoah" which is being built as a vehicle for Will Smith to star in.
Smith would play Taharqa, a Pharoah who battled the Assyrian invasion led by Esarhaddon in 677 B.C. Smith brought the story to Wallace and will produce alongside Overbrook's James Lassiter and Ken Stovitz.
Smith is starring in "Seven Pounds" for Columbia where he reteams with "Pursuit of Happyness" director Gabriele Muccino. He also produces via Overbrook Entertainment.
Wallace is up to direct the story of Triple Crown-winning racehorse Secretariat which Mike Rich is scripting.
Smith is a two-time Academy Award® nominee for best actor - the first for "Ali" in 2002 and next for "Happyness."
